This is one "concept" of how the new Takapuna Wharf could be positioned. Located in the same general area as the original Takapuna Wharf on the boatramp site, a new wharf could also be constructed in a dog-leg design.....keeping it well away from the ancient fossil forest.

The new Takapuna Wharf would be a low impact, environmentally friendly, floating jetty. While opening Takapuna Beach up to the Hauraki Gulf and our magnificent harbour, it would also provide a viewing platform for the fossil forest.

The inner section of the wharf, parallel with the boat ramp, would greatly assist boaties and recreational craft using the popular boat ramp. The outer section of the jetty, angling out to sea, could be positioned to cater for larger craft, ferries, and tourist operators.
